Looking for a stunning and low-maintenance plant to brighten up your indoor or garden space? The Opalina succulent, known as the Graptoveria 'Opalina' - is a delightful cultivar resulting from a cross between Echeveria colorata and Graptopetalum amethystinum, an interesting species of Echeveria and Graptopetalum.

This perennial fast-growing succulent plant is a true gem, with its easy-care nature, native to California. It forms rosettes of pink and blue-green leaves, usually grows upright to 6 inches wide, or slowly produces offsets. This Opalina plant is perfect for those who are looking for something that is both fun and exciting.

When this plant only receives partial sunlight then it would turn powdery blue-green and have a nice farina covering. The edges will blush pink as you move them into more direct light.

Keep an eye out for vibrant flowers in the spring, that are sure to add a pop of color to your space, while the offsetting growth habit means that it will slowly fill in any empty areas. Owing to its distinctive size and shape, it is also frequently used in landscaping.

Overall, this hybrid Graptoveria 'Opalina' is an easy plant to care for and makes a great addition to any succulent collection!

Watering Needs

The Graptoveria Opalina needs moderate watering 1-2 times a week, especially during its first season in a new planting container. To prevent rot and infestations, you should let the soil get completely dry between waterings between spring and autumn. Reduce watering during the winter to prevent damage from freezing or frost and avoid getting the leaves wet.

Light Requirements

With a little attention, Opalina succulent plant can be grown in partial shade. However, full sun is the only option if you want this plant to look its best. It's interesting to note that depending on the amount of light available, this plant's coloration can vary greatly.

It's crucial to place your succulents away from any areas with constant direct sunlight, as doing so could result in burned foliage.

Optimal Soil & Fertilizer Needs

The Opalina succulent plants favor very airy, sandy soil that drains well. Planting them in ordinary soil will result in compacted roots, stunted growth and most likely root rot. Instead make or buy a well-draining potting mix, or ideally use our specialized potting mix that contains over 10 natural substrates and mycorrhizae to promote the development of a strong root system that helps your succulent/cactus to thrive.

And let's not forget about fertilizing! Ideally, you should look for a natural fertilizer with an approximate blend of 5-10-15 (N-P-K) that is higher in phosphorus than nitrogen. The best choice is to use a natural or organic fertilizer as they last longer and keep your soil alive by adding other beneficial compounds and microbes that encourage plant health and nutrient absorption.

Hardiness Zones & More

The Gravptoveria opalina plant enjoys hot temperatures. They prefer constant temperatures above 70 degrees Fahrenheit and can tolerate triple digits in the summer, so don't worry if your succulents get too hot.

These succulent plants, on the other hand, cannot handle frost, cold, or freezing temperatures, so make sure it doesn't get below 32 degrees Fahrenheit in its environment.  If grown outdoors, these Opalina succulents grow best in USDA zone 10 - 11.

Excellent value, consistent fit, cool, comfortable and durable.
Size: Large, Color: Army Green
I have purchased 20 plus of these shirts in the past six months. The first batch in spring, figuring if any inconsistencies or quality issues arose upon delivery, no problem. Amazon's return policy has always been hassle free. After trying on the fourth shirt and noticing no outstanding flaws or differences, all were simply opened, laundered and hung on a hanger. The material is 100 percent cotton, but assuming they are removed from the dryer immediately (medium heat) - no ironing necessary. No appreciable shrinking is observed and no outliers in the batch. My sport shirt size is men's US large regular fit. Other relevant sizes - 17.5 inch neck, 46 inch shoulders, 34 inch sleeves and 36 inch waist. Overall fit of these shirts is of appropriate roominess without bagginess. Shirt tail length is spot on, work dress code requires tucked in, and they stay tucked in. Casual requires not tucked in, and unless I am reaching for the sky with both hands while on tip toes, the shirt tail/ belt line is not breached. The sleeve length could have been extended by an inch since they taper to an elastic cuff, requiring that the sleeves are pulled back to original position following an extended reach. But given the choice, the sleeves as is are preferred over a straight cut without the elastic cuff. As an upgrade to the T shirt appearance of the shirt tail when not tucked in, the side seams end with a reinforced, one inch inverted V, a feature not typical in this price range. To date, durability has not been an issue. Fraying, fabric pilling and fading have not occurred. It is quite difficult, if not impossible, to differentiate the age of two duplicate color shirts purchased in two separate batches. Again, excellent value, consistent fit, cool, comfortable and durable!

An Extinct Breed - Get before they are gone
Size: Medium, Color: Red
In my day polos used to be soft thick 100 % cotton with generous sleeves covering the upper arm till above the elbows and collars standing high and grand and covering the back of the neck till below the hairline. They had substantial structure/body (shape that held) and ultra comfortable soft cotton. This was my go to piece of clothing to step out in (as opposed to round neck collarless T-Shirts that I wore only at home or for sporting activities). However, this simple good thing was not to be taken for granted. As time went by, I watched in horror this simple evergreen staple slowly vanish - being replaced by plastic, toxic, carcinogenic trash (synthetic, polyester, 'performance', 'hi-tech') being passed as clothing riding solely on deceptive/misleading/convincing marketing and rapidly transient 'fast fashion trends'. These pieces of junk being passed as 'performance polos'/'hi-tech' had no 'body', clung to your skin like plastic, caused my sensitive skin to itch, with arms so short as if there was shortage of clothing material in the world and were of such thin cheap uncomfortable material that I would wonder how in the world do people put these on their bodies. The 'trend' continued ... Fast forward to the present day, finding the 'cotton polo of my youth' is like finding a dinosaur. The polo I grew up with is practically extinct - replaced by trash made with ever cheaper feeling and more toxic materials. Its a win win for the corporates/brands - cheap synthetic lab created materials astronomically marked up (riding on advertisement) - filling the corporate pockets unlike never before and successfully 're-programming' the minds and purchasing behavior of the new generation to accept, get used to, and even get addicted to such toxic 'hi-tech' trash. As for the manufacturing ? No problem - hire some MBA's (with zero knowledge/passion for good quality textile/garment manufacturing) - their sole purpose to be 'maximizing profits' for the next 'earnings report' and they would find the 'cheapest' offshore factory to outsource the manufacturing to. This being a continuous process - if you get a cheaper bid from another factory, just switch to it. No wonder you can never get consistent material, sizing, quality for the exact same product purchased even months apart. Not just that - even brands that sold fantastic quality 100 % cotton polos at a very reasonable price like Tommy Hilfiger etc went STEEP DOWNHILL. A Tommy Hilfiger polo being sold today is NOWHERE NEAR anything like the quality they had even a few years ago (even though still being theoritically 100 % cotton, the quality (material, cut) now is absolutely junk - in fact they went from being my favorite Polo Shirts (thick, soft, cloud like cotton with generous neck and sleeves and amazing body, texture and shape and in high quality colors and finish) to absolutely shockingly unwearable pieces of garbage (thin, rough, itchy cotton with skimpy sleeves and flat collars and dull cheap finsih and colors with NO lusture, body whatsoever). I always wish I had seen this day come. I would have stocked up on a lifetim's supply of 'real' clothing when they were still available. Given the above, I am extremely surprised (pleasantly) by this Amazon Essentials Cotton Polo. This is 100 % cotton, has generous non-skimpy sleeves and has decent material and shape reminiscent of the 100 % cotton polo I am habituated to from my time. Quality of material wise - it is about 65% - 70% of the cotton polos of yesteryears - BUT - even THAT - is like finding diamond (or a dinosaur) in these abhorrent-clothing-times for the 100 % cotton polo lover. Get this before the 'real cotton polo' is gone for good. I think I may be getting a few.
